1and1.com is the worst domain registrar. By Morgan Schwartz 1and1.com has to be hands down the worst domain registrar I've encountered. As an active domain buyer and developer I have accounts at many of the major registrars. 1and1 was initially very attractive for their low registration fees. But I guess you get what you pay for. Their admin tools are archaic and very cumbersome to use. If you hold a portfolio of many domains, its basically impossible to do an bulk actions. But worst of all are their deceptive billing practices. I needed to transfer a number of domains to another registrar. I did this close to the expiration date of some of the names. Even though these names were approved for transfer and in the process of being moved over, 1and1 went ahead and billed me for another year but did not add a year to my domains. I consulted with a number of other registrars and multiple companies have told me that sometimes this does happen as the systems are automated - but it is their business practice to credit their customers' accounts when this problem is identified. 1and1 refuses to even acknowledge the problem, never mind offer a refund. They should be reported to the better business bureau.
